United Vibrations is a London-based jazz collective formed in 2009, blending spiritual jazz, Afrobeat, funk, hip-hop, reggae, and socially conscious spoken word into an energetic, improvisation-driven sound. The original lineup consisted of brothers Yussef Dayes (drums), Ahmad Dayes (trombone), Kareem Dayes (bass), and longtime friend Wayne Francis II (tenor saxophone).
The band emerged from South London's vibrant jazz scene, busking on the streets before gaining recognition for their powerful live performances and community-focused philosophy. Their music draws inspiration from artists such as Fela Kuti, Sun Ra, John Coltrane, and the spiritual jazz movement, while embracing modern influences from Afro-punk, jazz fusion, and contemporary UK music. Their guiding principle, "Out of many must come one," reflects both their multicultural influences and their emphasis on unity through music.
United Vibrations earned acclaim for combining intricate musicianship with themes of social justice, spirituality, environmental awareness, and self-discovery. They toured extensively across the UK and Europe, collaborated with artists including Tony Allen, Seun Kuti, Aloe Blacc, and Jordan Rakei, and helped establish drummer Yussef Dayes before his later success with projects such as Yussef Kamaal and his solo career.
